SmileAlarm
About SmileAlarm
SmileAlarm is an alarm clock app that stops when you smile. Using ARKit face recognition technology, it detects your genuine smile to stop the alarm. Record your daily smiles with scores and visualize your habit with the Smile Calendar.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Alarm
Q. My alarm doesn't ring
A. Please check the following:
- Have you granted AlarmKit permission? (A permission dialog appears on first launch)
- Is the alarm turned ON?
- Are you using iOS 26.1 or later?
- The alarm sounds through Silent Mode and Focus Mode, but not when the device is powered off
Q. How does snooze work?
A. If you slide to dismiss the alarm instead of stopping it with a smile, snooze activates automatically and the alarm will ring again. Only a genuine smile fully stops the alarm.
Smile Detection
Q. My smile isn't detected
A. Please check the following:
- Have you granted camera permission? (Settings > SmileAlarm > Camera)
- Is your entire face visible to the camera?
- Is the room too dark? (Try the light button in the top-right corner of the screen)
- Moving both your mouth corners and eyes will help detection (mouth alone is not enough)
Q. Can I change the difficulty?
A. With a Pro subscription, you can choose from Easy, Normal, or Hard. The free version is fixed at Normal.
Privacy & Data
Q. Is camera footage sent externally?
A. No. All camera footage is processed in real-time on your device and is never sent to any external server. Please see our Privacy Policy for details.
Q. Where are my smile photos and logs stored?
A. They are stored on your device. If you are signed in to iCloud, they are also automatically synced to your personal iCloud account. Your iCloud data is accessible only by you — neither other users nor the developer can view it. If you delete the app, your iCloud data remains and can be restored when you reinstall.
Q. I see advertisements
A. Free users see banner ads on some screens. All ads are removed with a Pro subscription. No ads are shown during alarm ringing, smile detection, or score display.
Q. What does "Allow Tracking" mean?
A. This is the App Tracking Transparency (ATT) dialog that appears on first launch. If you allow it, ads will be more relevant to your interests. If you decline, ads will still appear but may be less relevant. Your choice does not affect app functionality.
