Privacy Policy
SmileAlarm
This privacy policy explains how SmileAlarm ("the App") handles user information.
1. Basic Policy
The App does not collect personal information (name, email, phone number, location, contacts, etc.). Alarm settings are stored only on your device. Smile photos and smile logs are stored on your device and, if signed in to iCloud, automatically synced to your personal iCloud account. Anonymous usage data and crash logs are collected for quality improvement (see details below).
2. Camera and Face Data Usage
The App uses the device camera for smile detection to stop alarms. Smile detection is powered by Apple's TrueDepth camera and the ARKit framework.
- Data collected: The App reads facial expression values from ARKit's BlendShapes API in real-time (numerical values from 0.0 to 1.0 representing mouth corner movement and cheek raise). No 3D face model, depth map, or facial imagery is stored
- Purpose: The expression values are used solely to determine if the user is smiling and to calculate a smile score (0-100 points)
- Data retention: Face data is used only for real-time processing and is not stored on the device or externally. It is discarded immediately after processing
- External transmission: Camera footage and face data are never sent to any external server
- No advertising or marketing use: Face data is never used for advertising, marketing, or data mining purposes
- Camera permission: Camera access requires your explicit permission through the iOS permission dialog
3. Smile Photos and Smile Logs
When a smile is detected while stopping an alarm, a photo and score may be saved.
- Storage: Stored on your device. If signed in to iCloud, data is also synced to your personal iCloud account
- Privacy: iCloud data is accessible only by you. Neither other users nor the developer can access it
- External transmission: Data is never sent to any server other than Apple's iCloud
- Deletion: Deleting the app removes local data. iCloud data can be removed manually from iCloud settings
4. Subscriptions
The App offers auto-renewable subscriptions (monthly and yearly) to unlock Pro features. All payments are processed by Apple, and the App does not access your payment information.
5. Advertising
Banner ads are displayed to free users on select screens. All ads are removed for Pro subscribers.
- Ad network: Google AdMob (Google LLC)
- Advertising ID (IDFA): The App requests App Tracking Transparency (ATT) permission on first launch. If you grant permission, your IDFA is shared with Google AdMob for ad personalization. If denied, non-personalized ads are shown
- Data transmission: Minimal device information (screen size, OS version, etc.) is sent to Google for ad serving
6. Analytics and Crash Monitoring
The App uses the following services:
- Firebase Analytics (Google LLC): Collects anonymous usage events and device information to understand app usage and improve features. No personally identifiable information is included
- Firebase Crashlytics (Google LLC): Collects crash logs and device information to detect and fix issues. No personally identifiable information is included
For details, please refer to Google's Privacy Policy.
7. Third-Party Data Sharing
The App does not sell or share user data with third parties. Anonymous device information is transmitted to Google for advertising and analytics purposes as described above.
8. Children's Use
The App does not intentionally collect personal information from children under 13.
9. Changes to This Privacy Policy
This policy may be revised as necessary. Significant changes will be communicated within the app or on the app's store page.
